What DO Supermodels do after they model?
After years of posing, smiling, catwalking and well, looking pretty, what do supermodels do when they’re all modeled out? Do they simply lounge in their caftans all day, planning brunches and soirees on their own behalf? Do they stand in line all day at unemployment to set up their collections while we work hard and save up to afford one of their many expensive endorsed products?
Well supermodels, if you are planning to retire, take a hint from the pro herself – Ms. Tyra Banks! Quite a supermodel — this forehead-endowed, voluptuous, quirky model is a multi threat. Not only did she strut her stuff down many catwalks from Paris to New York, she’s graced countless magazine covers, offered expert advice on eating well and taking care of your body, launched a successful primetime reality show and daytime talk show and has managed to fall in love somewhere in between (rumors circulate that Ms. Banks is engaged). Talk about a resume!
What we like most about Ms. Tyra is her ability to take a cookie cutter image and completely twist it Tyra Style. Victoria Secret will lament her retirement but her fans will always remember her upbeat strut down the hottest televised catwalk in history. Americas Next Top Model is probably the BEST reality show out there (if you don’t agree, please keep your opinions to yourself). Her trained winner Eva has wowed fashionistas with her feisty catwalk and “keeping it real” style and girls nationwide are practicing their catwalk and submitting their video essays. Tyra you train them well! We can’t wait until next season (let’s pray we don’t get a repeat of last season – Nicole your great, but Nik – you rocked it!). Even Heidi Klum is following suit with Project Runway. And although critics weren’t a fan of The Tyra Banks Show, Banks is definitely learning the ropes and there’s a waiting list for seats. I’m guessing its becoming the next best thing (next to Oprah and Ellen, that is).
Tyra Banks has definitely opened doors for upcoming models and has proven to the world that not only did she model the hell out of underwear and bras, but her breasts are real too! This beautiful media giant has influenced fashion spreads and beauty features for years and with her most recent projects, it looks like she isn’t going anywhere.
