Martha, You Just Don’t Fit In

It’s official! The domestic diva has received her pink slip from execs at NBC after her spinoff of Trump’s highly successful show, The Apprentice, failed to bring in the audience that the faltering station needs. Knocking Martha further off her pedestal, rumor has it t hat the order to fire her came straight from the Trump himself. Other sources argue to the contrary.

According to a spokesperson for NBC, the show always had been scheduled to run for only one season. According to Mark Burnett, executive producer for NBC and Apprentice, “We chose Stewart to helm the spinoff in an effort to capitalize on public curiosity about the lifestyle maven after her release this year from a five-month prison term for lying to investigators in connection with an insider-trading stock probe.”

While Trump’s show went gold from the beginning, The Apprentice: Martha Stewart only brought in 7.1 million viewers for the premiere and capped out with an average of 6.8 million viewers each week. Blame it on Martha if you will, but after execs moved the show from the lead-off slot to the 9:00 space, a usual death warrant for any show, Martha had to compete with LOST, ABC’s hit drama and the number one show on TV. In the end, Martha lost her audience. If you still want second-helpings, you can see the two-hour finale on Dec. 21st.
