Travel Destination: The Westin Aruba Resort

Starwood_weston_Aruba_resor.jpg

I’ve had many friends vacation in Aruba and loved it. I’ve always wanted to go, but now with the renovation of the Aruba Resort Spa & Casino that has now become The Westin Aruba Resort, I’m definitely feeling the urge for a getaway to Aruba.

The Westin Aruba Resort is owned by Starwood Hotels and is part of the Preferred Guest Program. The Preferred Guest Program is impressive with no black out dates, earning more free nights and the fact that 50 of their hotels are listed on the Conde Nast Gold Traveler’s List and another 22 named “World’s Best” by Travel & Leisure. In early 2007, Starwood Hotels will also be launching their Starwood Vacation Ownership Program in Aruba with a building adjacent to The Westin Aruba Resort. I wonder if the 154 two-bedroom villas will sell out in record time, as the Trump International Hotel & Tower Waikiki Beach Walk did (which set a record for dollar and unit volume.)

Aruba has always been known as a tropical oasis that many people hold their weddings at, vacation alone, as a couple, as a family or simply go to take in the culture and tropical ocean air. As someone with a family (small army), I love that The Westin Aruba Resort not only offers luxury that I can appreciate (marble baths, 32’ flat screen televisions, private balconies, ocean views), but also an atmosphere where kids are welcome, as well. Westin’s Kid’s Club offers kids, ages 4-12, supervised activities that include soccer, scavenger hunts and video game tournaments.

Should my husband and I decide to leave the kids at home, there are so many activities that we can partake in as a couple or individually. I may be inclined just to spend my time at the Intermezzo Day Spa, while my husband enjoys some deep-sea fishing. We can always hit the Casablanca Casino for some late night fun or have a blast together scuba diving or playing water sports (we can be very competitive!)

Either way, The Westin Aruba Resort sounds like heaven and a travel destination where we are bound to have a great time.
