There are many bloggers who started off their blogging career like any other and then there are those whose persistence and ambition spawned a blogebrity reputation and landed them at the top. Below are the stats on some of the top movers and shakers who jumped from "Blogger" to "Laughing all the way to the bank."
Jessica Coen
The Stats: Skipped going to Grad School at Columbia to write for Gawker as Co-Editor in August 2004. Made a name for herself and was then scooped up to be Deputy Online Editor for VanityFair.com. She made her debut in October 2006.
Steve Rubel
The Stats: Was a Vice President at CooperKatz & Company and had called it home since 2001. Has a blog called Micropersuasion which launched him into his blogebrity status for being a guy who knows his stuff. Eldelman took notice and Rubel joined their ranks in February 2006 to become Senior Vice President of Edelman's me2revolution practice.
Corynne Steindler
The Stats: Was the Editor of Jossip, a New York based gossip blog, since December of 2005. Less than one year later, in October of 2006, she began writing for the New York Post's Page Six.
Robert Scoble
The Stats: Worked for Microsoft since May 2003 where he was part of the Channel 9 MSDN Video team, in which he produced videos that showcased Microsoft employees and products. His blog Scobelizer earned him so much recognition that even Steve Rubel started a fan club blog and he left Microsoft to become Vice President of Media Development at PodTech in the summer of 2006.
Mark Evans
The Stats: Worked for the National Post as Senior Technology Reporter since 2001 and began with b5media in October of 2006 as VP of Operations. He was their first external hire since raising $2M in Venture Captial.
