I came across Cosmedicine’s self-adjusting exfoliator Medi-Morphosis on Sephora.com a few days ago. It sounded interesting, as I had never heard of a self-adjusting exfoliator before. I wasn’t sure what to expect, however I am one who firmly believes in exfoliating twice per week, so I figured I would give it a try.
I chose not to read the Cosmedicine website prior to using the product because I whole-heartedly wanted to go into the review without any preconceived notions or thoughts on the product. I simply opened the package and followed the directions. The product itself is slightly thick and pasty. It was quite different than any other exfoliator I have used before, which normally is an exfoliant suspended in a gel or lotion-like substance. Medi-Morphosis has crystals that appear invisible, as they are white in a white substance.
Upon smoothing it over my skin it felt a little abrasive at first, I would even go so far to say it felt a little sand paper-like. The directions say to continue massaging Medi-Morphosis until the crystals dissolve and you no longer feel the exfoliants. After about 1.5 minutes of massaging Medi-Morphosis on my face, I began to worry because I still felt the crystals, but feared I would come out of the shower to find my face red and irritated. I decided to stop massaging the product into my face and rinsed it off. My skin was definitely left with an ultra-clean feeling. I suffer from combination skin and the after effect definitely felt wonderful.
Once I took a look at my face in the mirror I was absolutely astonished that I showed no signs of redness or irritation at all. In fact, my skin felt baby soft and had this “glowing” look about it. I applied my Korres Pomegranate Balancing Moisturizer and just stood there in awe of the difference my skin felt and how it appeared. My skin felt as if I had just had a facial, it was really that amazing.
Most amazing was when I went to the website to read up on the product, they confirm that those who have used this product also had a similar experience. No redness, no irritation and according to the website their “stop-action” crystals prevent the potential of overdoing it. So despite exfoliating my face much longer than I would have typically, my skin showed no visible signs of damage. Medi-Morphosis is $42 for a 125ml tube on cosmedicine.com.

I've found that if I concentrate on specific areas of my face, I'll notice the stop-action. I smear it all over my skin, and then massage one specific area until I feel the crystals dissolve (forehead, left cheek, right cheek, etc). I love this product!

Thanks for posting Claire. I'll keep that in mind when I use it again later this week. I definitely love how it made my skin feel regardless of the crystals not dissolving. ;)
